Dr. Will Boyd

is the presiding Bishop of Zion Ministries and the pastor of a 159-year-old church in Florence, Alabama—St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.  A native of South Carolina, Boyd earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering at the University of South Carolina before earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Religion, and a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) with a Christian worldview.  He also holds and honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) in Christian Counseling and an honorary Doctorate of Divinity (DD).  Before transitioning into ministry, higher education, and public service, Boyd worked as a manufacturing engineer, production manager, and quality manager in the U.S. and China.  He later served as an assistant adjunct business professor of business management and Dean of Student Success at Greenville College and chancellor and board member for St. James the Elder Theological Seminary.  Boyd has written and published three books which are all available on Amazon (Scratching the Surface, Can You Hear Me Now?, and Watch God!)  Boyd was the first African American elected City Councilman in Greenville, Illinois.  More recently, he was the 2016 Democratic nominee for Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District, a candidate in the 2017 Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, and the 2018 Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Alabama.  Boyd is currently Chair of the Lauderdale County Democratic Executive Committee, Basileus of the Alpha Pi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, a member of Alabama’s State Democratic Executive Committee, and a member of the Lauderdale County Healthcare Authority Board.  He is married to Vida Boyd, a human resource professional.  Bishop Dr. Will Boyd and his wife have three children and they all reside in Florence, Alabama.
